Error: "S6ReporterSilent.ini is missing" or "S6ReporterSilentTemp.ini is missing"

This support note applies to:

  • AE Reporter (AU)
Article ID: 32956

When running a workstation installation of MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) Reporter, you may experience the error "S6ReporterSilent.ini is missing" or "S6ReporterSilentTemp.ini is missing". This occurs when the installation cannot find the required file. Although the file name exists, the .INI extension is not being recognised. To successfully run the workstation installation, change the file name accordingly to include the .ini extension. Alternatively if the file does not exist you need to create a new text document with the relevant name quoted in the error.

The following process requires the ability to see file extensions.  Refer to Viewing hidden files, folders and drives or enabling file extensions in Windows

The location of the file depends on the MYOB application you are using, use the relevant location for your scenario:

AE MAS - \Sol64\Reporter\Setup\Reporter Integration\
AE Accounts - \MYOB\Setup\Reporter Integration\
MAS with MYOB AO - \MYOBAO\AOSQL\Tax\Setup\Reporter Integration\

To rename the silent install files
  1. Open Windows Explorer or Computer and navigate to the relevant location as above. The contents of this folder appear.
  2. Right-click on the silent install file and select Rename. The file becomes editable.
  3. Type .ini at the end of the file name and press ENTER. The file name is updated.

If there is not a silent installation file, create the required file using the following instructions

To create a new silent install file
  1. Open Windows Explorer or Computer and navigate to the relevant location as above. The contents of this folder appear.
  2. Right-click on a blank area and from the New menu, select Text Document. A new text document icon appears.
  3. Type the relevant name, for example S6ReporterSilent.ini and press ENTER. The file is created.

Please ensure you are logged in as an administrator and run the MYOB AE Reporter workstation installation again.  For more details refer to Running a workstation setup for AE Reporter (AU)
