Performing an EPRESET in Accountants Office

This support note applies to:

  • AO Tax (AU)
Article ID: 35795

You may need to run the EPRESET routine when one or more of the following conditions occur:

  • A user shows as logged into MYOB Accountants Office (AO) even though the user is out of the application. This can be caused by abnormally closing AO either due to a system crash or by switching off the computer while in the application.
  • "MUL Exceeded" error message.
  • "Core Product MUL Exceeded" error message.
  • "Terminal licence count exceeded" error message.
  • Cannot access a ledger due to it being set to Single User mode. The EPRESET routine will reset all ledgers' Status to All Users.

The EPRESET routine resets all internal counters within the system data file, DS6OP010. As a precaution, we recommend backing up this file prior to executing the EPRESET command just in case the routine fails to complete.

Before you begin, you will need to know where your MYOB program files are located. If you're not sure of this location, Finding the SOL64 or Tax directory can help you locate this directory. The X:\ drive is used as an example throughout this article.

To create a backup of the DS6OP010 file
  1. Right-click on the Start
menu and select Run. Alternatively, you can also press the Windows key + R on your keyboard.
  2. Type X:\MYOBAO\AOSQL\Tax in the Open field, where X:\ is the drive location of your AO installation.
  3. Right click on DS6OP010.
  4. Select Copy.
  5. From the Edit menu, select Paste.

The "Copy of DS6OP010" file is created in the X:\MYOBAO\AOSQL\Tax directory.

To run the EPRESET routine

Before running through the steps below, check that all users are logged out of the software.

  1. Right-click on the Start
menu and select Run. Alternatively, you can also press the Windows key + R on your keyboard.
  2. In the Open field, type X:\MYOBAO\AOSQL\Tax\SR EPRESET  where X:\ is the drive location of your AO installation.

EPRESET must be in UPPERCASE and you must have a space between SR and EPRESET in the above command.

  3. Click OK. The System Services Reset Routine screen appears.

  4. Select Yes, if you are sure all users are logged out.

If a message box appears asking "Do you wish to clear logged in status for user <USER NAME>? (Do not select Yes if the user is still operating normally)", click Yes to log this user out of System Services. More than one user may be logged into System Services. If so, repeat this step for each user prompt.

The user database is updated and the item count is reset. Once complete, the system exits and returns you to the Windows desktop.  All users can safely log back into MYOB AO.
