Removing a partner

This support note applies to:

  • AO Practice Manager (NZ)
  • AO Practice Manager (AU)
  • AE Practice Manager (NZ)
  • AE Practice Manager (AU)

In MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) and Accountants Office (AO), partners cannot be deleted as they are attached to the historical financial transactions.

Review the following options:

The partner has left the business completely
To perform the alternative to deleting a partner who left the business:
  1. Move all clients to a new partner. See Responsibility update.
  2. Open the employee and go to the Main tab and enter an end date to the employee record of the partner.
    This will mean their standard hours are calculated correctly for employee productivity reporting.
  3. Make the employee inactive.

    This will mean that the partner will no longer be available to be added to any other clients. See Closing or setting an employee to inactive.

    This partner is no longer available for selection when filtering by partner in reports as all historical data has now moved to the new partner for that client.
The partner is no longer a partner but still working as an employee
To perform the alternative to deleting a partner who works at the business:
  1. Move all clients to a new partner. See Responsibility update.
  2. Open the employee and go to the Main tab and enter an end date to the employee record of the partner. 
    This will mean their standard hours are calculated correctly for employee productivity reporting.
  3. Make the employee inactive. See Closing or setting an employee to inactive.
    This will mean that the partner will no longer be available to be added to any other clients.
  4. From the Main tab, select Edit my.MYOB details from the Task bar and remove the my.login from the employee.
    This will allow you to re-use the email address for the my.login for the new employee created in the next step.
  5. Create a new employee for the ex-partner to do their future timesheets. See Creating a new employee.

    This partner is no longer available for selection when filtering by partner in reports as all historical data has now moved to the new partner for that client.
